Project Team for the Duke University Edens Quad Dormitories Upgrade and Renovations receives AIA North Carolina “Honor Award”
The project team of Shelco, Clark Nexsen and Duke University’s Construction Management staff was recently awarded the AIA North Carolina “Honor Award” for the highly successful Duke University Edens Quad Dormitories Upgrade and Renovations project. The project team undertook one of the most demanding and challenging projects, considering the scope, design, and schedule, that the institutional construction industry can propose. The Edens Quad project scope encompassed extensive interior and exterior renovations of seven (7) dormitory residence halls. Shelco completed this extremely fast-paced multifaceted and multi-phased project in just fourteen (14) weeks during the summer break.
The new lobbies and common areas, now with new curtain wall exteriors, provide sunlight and openness conducive to study, networking, or just “hanging out”. With the collaboration of the entire team, the students were able to enjoy heir newly renovated rooms, their fitness addition with its “open to the outside elements” yoga and TX studio/workout area, and their new Link Gaming addition with “state of the art” equipment with no idea and comprehension of the construction that had transpired in just fourteen (14) short weeks.
Shelco’s constant attention to schedule, details, quality and safety ensured the delivery of this successful project on a critical, time-sensitive schedule with the quality and the reputation of ‘Building Excellence’ which is expected of our firm. Shelco is very proud to be a member of the team being recognized with this “Honor Award” given by the AIA North Carolina Chapter of the American Institute of Architects.
